The new Quickie Ultralight Wheelchair was unveiled to the world last Tuesday at Naidex amid shrouds of secrecy from Sunrise Mobility. The press release tells very little though.
Carbon Quickie Wheelchair Prototype
Manufactured from Carbon Fibre, the Quickie XXXXXXX offers a strong, stylish look, combined with an ultra-lightweight frame. In fact, the NEW Quickie XXXXXXX is lighter than the already feather-weight Quickie Helium.*
We can confirm that the new carbon fibre wheelchair is made from a single strand of carbon unlike other carbon fibre wheelchairs which use a composite system. This means the wheelchair is stronger and lighter, using no bonding resin in making the wheelchair frame where possible and reducing the weight significantly.
The wheelchair is expected to be significantly more energy efficient than the current Helium and Xenon wheelchairs. More details are expected later in the year.
